For MMA wagering purists there isn’t anything more upsetting than the impending UFC 116 wagering Main Event at the online sportsbook featuring former WWE champion –and current UFC wagering champion- Brock Lesnar.
The fact is that Lesnar comes from a background of pretend fighting in the WWE, and that’s distasteful for plenty of MMA gambling devotees to digest. Plenty of sports gambling devotees see Lesnar as a force to delegitimize the UFC gambling contest after plenty of superb competitors have worked so hard to make the UFC the king of MMA gambling.
Plenty of MMA fighting devotees just want to know whether this guy is the real deal or not, even beyond the doubts of legitimacy of the sport. After all, to date in the UFC gambling, Lesnar has had a pretty unorthodox career. He only has five career UFC wagering events under his belt (the UFC 116 odds contest will be his sixth) and yet he is currently wearing the UFC wagering heavy weight belt.
Some MMA gambling devotees see Lesnar’s title as reward for his superstar as much as it is for his ability as a fighter, compared to former superb victors in the heavyweight division. But these skeptics will get to find out soon enough for themselves when Lesnar climbs into the Octagon for his UFC 116 gambling competition against Shane Carwin. Carwin is a little more practiced and no one questions his skills as a mma fighter with his perfect 12-0 UFC wagering track record to back him up.
Lesnar, alternatively, doesn’t have nearly as impressive a UFC gambling track record having lost one of these five previous games. But he’s also defeated some big UFC wagering names like Randy Couture and Frank Mir. The UFC 116 gambling competition will be Lesnar’s largest test yet and a superb possibility for him to prove himself to all the MMA gambling devotees.
The UFC 116 wagering competition will also be a big litmus test for the UFC overall. This MMA organization has come under scrutiny of late for pursuing big name flops in order to increase rating, namely Kimbo Slice. Several MMA wagering devotees see Lesnar as just another Slice and so the UFC 116 wagering event will be the perfect moment for Lesnar to prove these critics right or shut them up once and for all.
In June 2007, Lesnar won his first UFC fight. He registered with the UFC in October 2007. His debut vs UFC Heavyweight Champ Frank Mir happened back in UFC 81. Lesnar got an early takedown, but was deducted a point for hitting Mir on the back of the head. At 1:30 of the first round, Mir managed to force Lesnar into a submission. He’s had some dubious bouts since then, though no further losses.
This fight was originally intended to happen a year ago during UFC 106. However Lesnar, who had been sick for weeks before the game, was withdrawn from the fight. He said at the time that he’d never been so unwell in his life and it would take him some time to heal. That fight has been rescheduled for UFC 116 on July 3.
