Jason Campbell arrives from the Washington Redskins to take control as quarterback for the disgraced Russell, who confronts legal and drug related issues. A veteran, Campbell has introduced a presence of authority to the locker room.
“We can do some good things together,” Campbell, who’s relieved to be from Washington, said. “They’re putting together a defense that has been outstanding. If we can help out offensively and turn some things around, anything is possible.” Campbell has been very helpful to pull the squad together as they will now go out on the town to socialize and come together. Campbell has been lauded over the years for his poise in the competition. He was named MVP of the SEC Championship Game and SEC Player of the Year throughout his college years. The Redskins were not a great squad for him to excel as a quarterback, and that might shift this season.
The defense is headed by all pro cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and came on strong down the stretch last year. Oakland finished 7th in the NFL for pass defense and appears to get better for 2010.
