Since Vitaly Petrov will be driving for Renault, F1 gambling is going to have the 1st Russian driver on the board this year. It’s been a long season for team Ferrari, a team that’s thought to be F1 gambling royalty, in every sense of the word, as the team’s victories have been few and far between. However, over the weekend this team was in great form as its number 1 driver and former F1 probabilities champ Fernando Alonso grabbed his second win of the year by winning the German Grand Prix in Hockenhiem.

However the win was much more than just a F1 betting win; it was a lifeline for a one time great squad that is fighting tooth and nail to remain relevant in the F1 probabilities event. This team has been little more than an afterthought for most of this year and with the win in Germany the squad has just two for the complete year.

The squad has basically played a distant 3rd fiddle all year to the Red Bull and McLaren teams which have owned the F1 racing in 2010, despite the fact that Alonso won the 1st F1 gambling competition of the year in Bahrain.

Of the 11 F1 gambling competitions at the sportsbooks this year, Team Red Bull and McLaren have won 9 of the competitions and the teams enjoy major leads in both the driver rankings and the Constructor Cup competitions.

Even with the 1-2 finish in Germany (Felipe Massa finished second after he controversially seemed to let Alonso pass him for the win) and 208 points, team Ferrari is still close to 100 points behind McLaren, which has 300 points, in the team rankings. They’ve got no real shot at winning either the top driver or squad awards.

The four top spots in the driver rankings are all held down by the two McLaren drivers and the Red Bulls. With 157 points, former F1 gambling victor Lewis Hamilton leads all drivers after a 4th place finish in Germany. He’s trailed in the rankings by team mate and reigning F1 victor Jenson Button (143) who battled to a fifth place finish.

The Red Bulls raced well, nonetheless they still trail McLaren. Sebastian Vettel maintained a 3rd place podium finish, and team mate Mark Webber came in 6th. Both drivers are now tied for 3rd in the driver rankings with 136 points.
