Sports Books gamblers remember that the Houston Rockets were just above .500 last season in NBA betting and that was without Yao Ming playing even a single competition.
If Yao is healthy and productive, the Rockets could be vastly improved in 2010-2011 against the odds at the Internet sports books. Yao has rarely been healthy, though, and that’s the issue for Houston.
Sports Books odds show Houston as 35-1 to win next season’s NBA title. The Rockets likelihood of contending for an NBA title genuinely rest on the left foot of Yao Ming. He can make a big difference if he is healthy. However, Yao has rarely been healthy. Yao has even said that if his foot injury is not fully healed he could be playing his last season of basketball. The Rockets do not seem too anxious as general manager Daryl Morey mentioned that Yao is on track to be in training camp and play in preseason games in sports betting.
The Rockets are paying Yao a lot of money so they need to get something out of him. Yao is in the final year of his contract and will make $17.6 million dollars this season. Yao can be a force for the Rockets when he is on the court. He has not been in the game an adequate amount for Houston though. In the last five seasons, he has missed time because of injury. Yao has stated that he may not be the same competitor that he was before his injury. He’s a seven-time All-Star and has averaged 19.1 points and 9.3 rebounds in his career.
He missed only 2 games out of 246 for the first three years that he played with the NBA. After developing an infection of the bone marrow in his left big toe, he was placed on the inactive list for a prolonged period of time during his 4th season. He’d gotten surgical treatment and missed 21 games. The same season, he smashed a bone in his left foot, an injury that needed half a dozen months of rest. The following season, Yao smashed his right knee and missed another 34 games. A year later, he received another stress fracture in his left foot, and he missed the remainder of that season. A sprained ankle as well as another hairline fracture in his left foot took him out of the playoffs for the 2008 season, and he missed the 2009 season to deal with the recurrent injuries.
There is lots of trepidation in Houston despite the fact that Houston owner Leslie Alexander was happy about Yao’s workouts. Yao always appears to get injured. And folks wonder when the next injury will transpire that could end Yao’s career despite the fact that the workouts have gone well.
Houston was just 37-45 against the spread last season. Aaron Brooks, who had 19.6 points per competition, led the Rockets in scoring last season. He also led the team in assists with 5.3 per competition. Luis Scola led the team in rebounding and in field goal percentage while Trevor Ariza led the team in blocks and steals. Houston was eighth in the league last season in scoring, however their defense was negative. A defense that was 22nd in the league in points per game should be improved by receiving Yao back in the middle.
