In a move that might help their NFL betting results, the Bills came to terms with first-round pick CJ Spiller on a 5-year deal last Friday. Placing an NFL wager on the Bills this season is unlikely to be preferred but Spiller might manage to change that belief. 
In most matches this season, NFL betting probabilities will likely post the Bills as underdogs. Buffalo will need Spiller to be a game breaker if they’re to make an impact this season in the AFC East. The Bills will be paying Spiller $25 million over 5 seasons and that number might go up to $37.5 million with bonuses. The contract contains $20.8 million in guarantees.
Spiller was the 9th in total pick in the 2010 NFL Draft from Clemson. Buffalo is hoping that he will be a game breaker comparable to what he was in college. The Bills will get a new offense this season under new head coach Chan Gailey. Spiller is supposed to be utilized as a rusher and a receiver in the Buffalo plan. At Clemson, Spiller ran for 3,480 yards and 31 touchdowns on the ground along with 1,362 yards and 11 touchdowns in receptions. Since Buffalo has two running backs in Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson, who aren’t game breakers, Spiller should get lots of playing time.
It is possible they might be the worst squad in the league in 2010. Buffalo has missed the playoffs in 10 straight seasons. They have some serious difficulties on both sides of the ball and nothing at quarterback. Chan Gailey is an offensive coach and the Bills will have to significantly get better on offense if they’re to win this season and get gamblers making an NFL bet to bet on them. They were 28th in scoring last season among NFL picks. Since Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Brohm aren’t going to make huge plays, Buffalo will have to hope that Trent Edwards is the answer at quarterback. The Bills have one excellent receiver in Lee Evans and pretty little else.
The defense is nothing special but at least they have linebacker Paul Posluszny. The squad released Aaron Schobel consequently they will need someone to help out Posluszny in making tackles. The Bills do have a good secondary directed by Jairus Byrd and they have a good kicker in Rian Lindell and a solid punter in Brian Moorman.
In January of 2010 the Bills pretty much dismissed their complete coaching staff by telling them they were welcome to look for employment with other teams. The purpose was to restore and rejuvenate the franchise, which has been struggling for years. They then appointed new head coach Chan Gailey, the 5th head coach in only ten years. Gailey had previously been the offensive coordinator for the Steelers, the Dolphins and the Chiefs. In the late 1990s, he was also the head coach for the Dallas Cowboys. Gailey is driven to just go out there and win matches, even though some are concerned about his capacity to lead the team to a winning season, let alone the playoffs.
