Football wagering expectation proceeds to build as the Seahawks were impressive in their preseason debut as they defeated Tennessee in their NFL wagering opener. Carroll made a completely new reputation for himself as head coach of the USC Trojans where he won 2 college football national championships and dominated the Pac 10 Conference. The exhibition win over the Titans was Carroll’s first NFL match in a decade and he essentially stole the show as both teams struggled in a sluggish affair.
“Oh, I loved it. It was a blast,” Carroll stated. “We even made it like a real NFL game, coming down to the final 20 seconds. Just being here. I’m so proud to be here. It was really, really cool.” Carroll has to date endeared himself to his players, bringing in high-profile guests to team meetings and holding bowling parties for the team. Some were calling his training camp Club Carroll, he conducted such an exuberant camp. Carroll needs to make some big changes to how the Seahawks perform if they anticipate to get anywhere this year, after going 9-23 over the last 2 seasons. And you’ll find a lot of changes being made, specifically to the team lineup. Something like half of the team’s participants and staff has changed since they played the last match of the 2009 year. And it is apparently paying off, at least to date.
Seattle’s up coming preseason competition with the NFL lines is August 21 when they sponsor the Green Bay Packers.
Seattle’s backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst had a strong performance as he went 14-22 for 214 yards and 2 touchdowns. Whitehurst was introduced by Carroll to challenge long time veteran starter Matt Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck struggled as he went 4-10 for 26 yards but there appears to be no quarterback controversy – yet anyway.
Since the first unit was chewed up by Tennessee on a 10 play 79 yard drive, Seattle’s defense continues to be a NFL wagering concern. The Seahawks ended 25th in points allowed a year ago and are attempting to shore up a thin linebacking corps.
