NFL gambling odds makers are becoming more impressed with the Rams as they’ve posted back to back NFL gambling victories. NFL gambling odds makers are also respecting the efforts of the winless Detroit Lions as they’re covering huge figures as serious NFL gambling underdogs.
The Lions will sponsor the St Louis Rams on Sunday at 1:05 PM Eastern with a FOX telecast. The online sportsbook started out with the Detroit Lions as a three point fave and with an over/under of 42.5.
The Rams are arriving from their most impressive performance of the year as they beat the Seattle Seahawks 20-3 as 1.5 point home underdogs to strengthen their total record to 2-2 straight up and 3-1 with the NFL lines. The St Louis Rams have gone under the total in three from four games this year.
The St Louis Rams are displaying noticeable improvement with second year head coach Steve Spagnuolo and rookie quarterback Sam Bradford. St Louis ranks 16th in the NFL for scoring and 4th for points permitted.
Running back Steven Jackson has given a helping hand with 284 yards rushing. Bradford has got a decent 72.3 Quarterback rating with a 6/6 TD interception percentage. Bradford arrived at the squad as the number 1 pick at the 2010 NFL Draft. He previously played college football at Oklahoma. As a redshirt sophomore in 2008, he became only the 2nd sophomore to win a Heisman Trophy. He also holds the NCAA record for the most TD passes by a freshman quarterback. He signed a six year, $78 million deal with the Rams, which is the largest deal ever for an NFL rookie. It remains to be seen if he’s going to be worth the extraordinary amount of cash that the St Louis Rams are paying out for him.
The Detroit Lions are also displaying significant improvement even as they miss the services of injured starting quarterback Matt Stafford. Stafford, the first total pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, injured his shoulder during the year opener at Chicago back in September. Detroit is 0-4 straight up but 3-1 with the NFL lines and is arriving from yet another near miss in last week’s 28-26 loss at Green Bay as 14.5 point underdogs.
The Lions offense is much greater and ranks 13th for scoring but the defense goes on to struggle and ranks 28th for points permitted. Shaun Hill has done a reliable job in filling in for Stafford as the Lions passing attack ranks 7th in the NFL.
This is a tough spot for the St Louis Rams as they’re entering uncharted territory with back to back wins going up vs a winless opponent. However Detroit has played hard and will be eager to score their first win of the year vs a squad that is beatable and winless on the road.
Detroit has had their share of NFL gambling battles at home with a mark of 5-13 vs the spread whereas the St Louis Rams are 7-3 vs the number versus squads with a losing record. The St Louis Rams have won and covered the last 2 meetings in this toe to toe series.
