In Tuesday night’s NBA Playoffs matchups, it was all about the faves – none of the underdogs managed to pull out a win.

The Dallas Mavericks rolled over the Trail Blazers, the Celtics fended off the Knicks, and the Magic evened the series against the Hawks. With these series now shifting to the lower seeds’ home courts, let’s check out how last night’s matches competed out.

In the single Western Conference match competed Tuesday, the Dallas Mavericks competed a close match against the Blazers through three quarters. But in the 4th, the Blazers just won 17 points to the Mavs’ 28, major to a 101-89 win. Dirk Nowitzki closed the match out with 11 points for Dallas in the final minutes of the match, sealing it for the Dallas Mavericks and giving them the 2-0 series lead.

In the Eastern Conference, the Celts took until the final seconds of the match to put it away against the Knicks. With yet another match winning shot (this time around from Kevin Garnett), the Celtics went up and went on to win 96-93. Carmelo Anthony had 42 points for New York, but the loss of Chauncey Billups actually hurt the team, as Boston’s offense was more fluid. A 30-point third quarter put the match just out of attain.

The Orlando Magic got yet another major match out of Dwight Howard, and this time around it was enough to defeat the Atlanta Hawks. Howard won 33 points and got 19 rebounds as the Magic went on to win 88-82, evening the series at one match each. The Hawks had no real answer after being outscored 32-20 in the second quarter and putting up just 12 points in the third. With the following match in Atlanta, the Hawks will try to recover and take the lead in the series.

So far, the 2011 NBA Playoffs are coming out just as expected, with just two exceptions in Los Angeles and San Antonio. Whilst a few of the leading squads aren’t playing as well as anticipated, such as Chicago, the leading seeds are still winning their matches at home. After a couple of more second matches tonight, most of the series will move ahead to Competition 3 by Thursday night and this weekend, where the underdogs will try to use home-court advantage to accomplish some upsets.
