The Bulls were never expected to win a lot of competitions or make it this far into the playoffs.
They were coming off a couple of mediocre 41-41 seasons before the 2010-2011 season, and no NBA expert supposed them to cruise to the league’s greatest record. Chicago’s offense had struggled during a lot of of the competitions of the playoffs so far. They just are not that efficient with scoring. But in Games 5 and Six, they’ve started to turn even this weak point around, throwing out the Atlanta Hawks in the 4th quarter of Game 5, and top the whole way through Game 6. The Bulls had an impressive 31 assists on 41 field goals last evening.
Too as the Bulls are competing right now, they go into the subsequent series as long shots vs the Miami Heat. In fact, everybody “expected” the Miami Heat to make it to the NBA Finals this year, if not win their first of “not six, not seven” championships. And no one thought that this Bulls team would’ve the incredible run that it has had so far.
But taking a look at the Miami Heat, it took their Big 3 to boost to beat an aging, injured Boston Celtics team. There were at least 2 competitions that, if the C’s had had a well Rajon Rondo, the Miami Heat would’ve lost. And that makes it a game Seven win for the Miami Heat, if at all. The Miami Heat will have their work cut out for them with the faster, more athletic, deeper Bulls team.
In any case, the NBA Playoffs are so much more exciting when we can all look at the Chicago Bulls and say, “Not since the Michael Jordan era…” It seems fitting that the Bulls is going to have to get through possibly the most-hated team in the league to get to the NBA Finals. Does anyone bear in mind the Bad Boys Detroit Pistons team that MJ and crew had to beat before earning their first championship?
I think the Eastern Conference Finals will be among the most exciting in recent memory in the NBA. The Bulls have home court advantage, a deep take out, the MVP, and a suffocating defense. The Miami Heat have the Biggest 3 in the league right now. It ought to make for a truly fun series, no matter who wins.
