As the 6-5 Jets travel to the 4-7 Washington Redskins in this East coast struggle, this week sees 2 sides who have less than outstanding records meeting up.

There are two intriguing match ups here, including between the 2 qbs. Mark Sanchez has been among the big reasons for the Jets winning competitions this year, having thrown for 18 Tds already. His opposite number, Rex Grossman may have thrown for 10 Touchdowns, but has been intercepted 14 times too, which appears excellent for the Jets defense.

Despite the best endeavors of Roy Helu, with a running game that has didn’t perform, the Washington Redskins offense has seemed less than threatening on the ground. He’s lacking doubt a talented runner, but it’s nearly impossible to get the job done alone and the rest of the Washington Redskins offensive line must up their game if Washington are to stand any prospect of turning their season around.
Out wide, both squads have plenty of speed with Santonio Holmes and his 37 catches and 5 Touchdowns lining up against the 665 yards of Jabar Gaffney. There is a quality prospect of a higher scoring game with these 2 on form.
The Washington Redskins have seemed the weaker of the 2 squads this season to date. The Jets certainly look to have more expertise out there and if they can keep Brian Orakpo away from Sanchez, they should not have any difficulties getting the offense moving, particularly given the weak spot of the Redskins’ secondary.
The Jets will be under pressure to get things to click soon since they’re seen by many as the league’s big underachievers in 2011. There is every prospect of running up a big score at some point if they can cut out the mistakes that have been haunting them up to now. You have to wonder, is it going to be this week?
