Week 15 of the nfl season sees the 10-3 New orleans saints go to the 2-11 Vikings in an NFC game between a Super Bowl contender and a squad playing out the string. The game should be one with a solid dose of scoring.

The New orleans saints are in nice form with a five game winning streak. The offense is humming with Brees threatening to break Dan Marino’s all time passing yardage record for one season. It isn’t even funny how many skilled players the offense has. If the New orleans saints have one problem, it’s their defense. The defense is the weak link of the squad. Unfortunately for Minnesota, they do not have the means to make the most of it.

It’s not going well for the Vikings, who are in a transition year. On offense, the Vikings are attempting to break in rookie quarterback Christian Ponder. Ponder has shown occasions of brilliance and occasions of shear incompetence, as with all rookie quarterbacks. He’s on a rough run at the time and was benched for a bit last week, so don’t anticipate any major highlights out of the Vikings passing game.
If there is any good news for the Vikings, it’s the truth they will have the greatest running back in the league back in the roster. Adrian Peterson returns from an ankle sprain, although one has to question why the Vikings are putting him back in the roster with the season lost and reports hinting he’s simply 85 percent healthy. One can envision Christian Ponder is greatly thrilled to see him back however!
The New orleans saints are favored by 7 points in this game. This is more a statement of the condition of the New orleans saints defense than anything. Still, it’s difficult to see a limited Adrian Peterson and rookie quarterback being in position to maintain on the scoreboard with the New orleans saints offense. The comparatively small 7 point spread is pretty shocking as the New orleans saints seem primed to win this game big.
